SPANISH WILLS
Having bought your property in Spain, you should now start considering what will happen to it in the event of your death.
Under International Private Law, even though your national law will initially apply to the distribution of your belongings, an exception applies to real estate property, which will be subject to the laws of the country where the property is situated.
To avoid any misunderstandings, it is advisable for most people to prepare a Spanish Will relating to their property in Spain.
Please note that Joint Wills are not allowed by Spanish law: Husband and wife will be required to formalise separate documents.
